CMPA Signs and Symptoms

The non-specific signs and symptoms of CMPA, ranging from colic and reflux to constipation, sleeping problems, eczema, diarrhea and crying, make diagnosis a real challenge. The symptoms involve many different organ systems, predominantly the skin, the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts. The involvement of two or more organ systems increases the likelihood of CMPA.^1,2

Every case of CMPA is different, so it helps to be aware of the different symptoms you should be looking out for.

Overview of Symptoms

Digestive

Up to 34% of infants with CMPA have gastrointestinal manifestations²¹

Respiratory

Up to 30% of affected infants with CMPA have respiratory symptoms17,22

Skin

Up to 75% of infants with CMPA can have skin-related symptoms21

General Symptoms

Inconsolable crying is very common in infants with CMPA associated with sleeping problems and food refusal

Anaphylaxis

Anaphylactic shock is a severe, immediate, allergic reaction, which can affect many organ/systems
